The Best of Porto Tour: Wine Cellar, Tastings and Cruise

The tour will begin at our meeting point, where you will join our guide for a guided exploration of the historic city center , the oldest area of Porto, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. From Avenida dos Aliados to Porto Cathedral , our guided walking tour will pass through charming historic streets, grand buildings and several landmarks of incalculable cultural value. Along the way, we'll visit the iconic São Bento Station , built at the beginning of the 20th century on the exact site of the former convent, to admire the 20,000 famous tiles painted by Jorge Colaço , which represent the history of Portugal . The last stop on the walking tour will be Porto Cathedral , one of the city's oldest monuments, founded in the 12th century on the initiative of its first bishop, D. Hugo. Our guide will explain the architecture of the building from the outside and show you incredible views over the river and the wine cellars in Gaia . Now it's time to discover the Port Wine Cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia . We'll board our comfortable minibus and head to the Port Wine Cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia, where our famous wine matures to achieve its unique flavor. During a guided tour of the cellars, you will learn about the wine production process , the Douro Valley, aging methods and the journey from the vineyard to the cellar. The tour ends with a delicious tasting of Port Wine . This immersive experience will conclude the morning and whet your appetite for lunch . Back in Porto, it's time for lunch. You'll be given free time to have lunch in the city, feel free to ask your guide for some good references in town! For the afternoon, we'll board a rabelo boat for a 50-minute panoramic tour of the Douro River, admiring the beautiful bridges that connect Porto and Gaia , and enjoying a unique perspective of the city's picturesque skyline from the river. For a complete experience of the city , we will now visit the Foz do Douro district and the modern part of the city. Foz do Douro is a typical neighborhood where the river meets the ocean, where you can enjoy scenic views, romantic strolls and the iconic “Pérgola da Foz”, inspired by the famous promenade in Nice . We will enjoy breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and its blue flag beaches, such as “Praia dos Ingleses”, a reference to Portugal's historical ties with the United Kingdom. The tour concludes with a drive through the modern Boavista area , home to the impressive Casa da Música (our concert hall) and Avenida da Boavista .
